Lindsey’s NEVER-DO List

Posted in   Seeking Self   on  September 28, 2021 by  Lindsey0

Without introduction, here is an incomplete and revisable list of things I will NEVER do…

  • I will never forget the sky is blue, regardless of what weather may keep me from seeing it in any given moment.
  • I will never skip out on watching hummingbirds or butterflies.
  • I will never refuse to hug my child when he asks for one.
  • I will never judge your wounds.
  • I will never let you forget that you’re already whole.
  • I will never give up on you.
  • I will never, ever compromise your personal power in exchange for access to what I have to offer, teach, or say.
  • I will never sell you out.
  • I will never let go of my dream of collective liberation.
  • I will never let myself regret resting deeply.
  • I will never let myself regret sitting in front of my computer, thoughts flowing freely.
  • When I need to, I do hard things for the sake of meaningful things. But, I will never, ever confuse my productivity for my worth.

I’m not taking this NEVER-DO list lightly.

This list is a necessary reminder that sometimes, when I’m scrolling Insta or reading a 🔥🔥🔥 quote from someone else’s book —for an instant — I believe that I’m not (popular, brilliant, beautiful) enough; in those moments, I’m WRONG.

I refuse to believe the thought for long. And, I vow never to say anything like that in front of my kiddo. I have HUGE “nevers,” like not working for free for those who can afford to pay me. Like not giving up on big dreams. Like remembering my “why”—and never straying to someone else’s “why” just because it looks good.

I have littler “nevers”, too. There are words I won’t ever use (and not just the ones that spring to mind). There are stores where I won’t spend my money. There are habits I will always have —and there are other habits that will never have space my life ever again. I have boundaries for social media and the way I share my story publicly.

*** This is an incomplete, ever changing list. ***

I have boundaries in so many areas of my life. They are some of the greatest gifts I give myself. They are the ways I show myself deep care, love and devotion.

If you like how this sounds, write your own list! Know what your “nevers” are. Know what your “why” is… Make this a practice to revisit often. I want good boundaries for you, because I love you.
